Talking Original Jack Fiber Gears

Just received the new fiber gear from Barker for 1971 Overlander Electric Jack. Ready to pack gear head and install. Unit was dry after 37 years. Is it OK to lube the fiber gear? Seems oil would soften it? Good idea to 30amp fuse it?

You can use white lithium grease, it will not soften the fiber.
