Lately my power jack has been making lots of noise. When not under load, it is quiet but starts howling as the load increases. It is protesting so loudly, I know it will fail soon.
Can I lubricate or otherwise repair, or is this a replacement issue?
I can't supply the brand of the jack as the trailer is in storage 300 miles away.
I looked for a grease fitting but there is none. There appears to be a cover over the motor, gears that is probably removable. I'll start by taking it off.
The motor, gears really howl when the jack is extended. It makes me think that the shaft might be bent.
I've never noticed an electric jack with a grease zerk, they generally make you work harder than that to lubricate them. It probably helps them sell more replacement jacks.
In fact my Atwood jack's manual just recommends annually extending it fully and cleaning the "inner ram tube" and spraying that with silicone lube.

I had/have a similar problem. I did grease the shaft a bit and that helped, but it's still noisier than I'd like. I'll take DKB's advice, extend the thing fully the clean and re-lubricate with silicon, which I'm sure will sort it out.
