No....Just turn the whole plastic thing the level sits in by hand. I think it turns about a quarter turn and unlocks - lift it and you will see the wrench point

The 15s have a different jack than the 16s. On the Atwood, you don't have to remove anything - just stick the tool into the hole on the front of the motor cover near the bottom. Super easy

Folllow up

Just wanted to follow up on my OP. It turned out to be the motor. I got a replacement sent to me (easy to replace) so that I didn't have to take it back to Colonial, which is over 1000 miles each way from here. Looking forward to our trip this weekend and not having to use the hand crank.

Also, first time hitching up by myself today, and it was as easy as I thought it would be. Of course it helps to have a backup camera on the truck so that I can see when I am all lined up!

Yes, my tow vehicle is the first I have had with a back-up camera, and it changes the game. Have a good weekend trip.

FrankenJack

I have this big ugly jack on the front of my EB - I'm the second owner and the first guy did a few strange and odd things like 4 scare lights and "FrankenJack". (The head of this jack is roughly the size of a six year old's skull - and the lights reinforce that "skeletal" look - almost a permanent Halloween decoration. I don't even recall the brand name, but it's so big it's been mounted sideways and still presses against the propane cover - cannot go on straight.

It's failed 4 times since I bought the unit. First time when I arrived home from Colonial after purchasing it. The other three times were either a blown fuse or the ground wire had to be removed, wire brushed, coated with dialectric grease (did I spell that right?) and reinstalled. The crank I found in the Airstream didn't fit the head, but a standard socket does. It is a pain in the tookus and I'd cheerfully replace it with an OEM (or close) jack.

So what model Atwood do all y'all have?

Thanks in advance, Paula

It's not clear to me which model it is. I've looked in the literature that came with it, and at the jack, but I can't really tell. It looks a lot like this one on Amazon, but not exactly:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=sr_1_4&sr=8-4

I considered just buying a complete replacement when I was trying to get mine fixed, since it took a month and it took a while to find out who was going to help. Atwood sent me to a local service center of theirs, but they said they couldn't help since it was under warranty. They said I had to deal with AS. The AS dealer said the warranty is with Atwood. In the end the dealer got the replacement motor from Atwood and sent it to me.

It is the Atwood Premier model - comes in a 3000 & 4000 lb version. The 4K model is taller and has more travel. The retail ones come in black or white. AS has a custom silver plastic cover on the ones they install.
