location of 12V breaker fuses
i have a 98 31' excella. while replacing the electric tongue jack the red power wire inadvertently contacted the frame causing a short. I have located the fuse box behind the couch at the front wall of the unit. can't find the red reset buttons as noted in the manual. anyone have another location to look?

The reset buttons are usually associated with 110 volt AC breakers. The tongue jack operates on 12 volt DC. You have most likely blown a 12 volt automotive fuse. These must be removed and replaced with a new one.

breakers
know about the separation of 110v vs. 12v. 110v breaker box is above bed roadside at rear of camper. 12v fuse box is behind couch on front wall of camper. my 12v fuse box doesn't have auto fuses. manual refers to red reset buttons. those are the ones I can't locate.

On my 2010 I believe that the tongue jack and breakaway switch share a self-resetting breaker that is separate from and behind the 12v fuse panel under the gaucho. Not sure why your setup wouldn't have reset itself though. Problem may be a loose wire rather than a fuse or breaker.

I tested all the 12v circuits in the fuse block with a voltmeter, they are all dead. the control panel over the stove worked just before the short, it is inoperative now.

Dave, you've got to have some fused protection between the battery cables and the fuse panel - Our older AS has 50 amp fuses on both the POS & the NEG cables...this could account for your other 12 volt circuits not working...
Also, its possible you have 12 volt circuit breakers on the elec jack 'feed' wire, and that it's defective - sometimes a short will 'fry' an older circuit breaker...
I've seen 12 volt circuit breakers that use a resettable 'button' once tripped, but didn't know AS used them...
I still believe you must have a fuse panel there somewhere to check out...perhaps those 'red' button CB's are located in the battery compartment...

GatorDave -
Sorry to be so slow to respond to your email. I was on my way out to a fishing (not-catchng) trip but I looked at my 12-v panel (behind the gaucho) before I left. The diagram on the inside of the panel door shows reset buttons, but danged if I could find any.
Just for kicks, try to turn off your battery disconnect switch, then turn it back on. If it clicks back on, perhaps that was your problem.
Good luck - Pat

found the solution
on the 98 models there is an inline 1amp fuse located under the front couch. It has blown the short occured. pclemore take note. had to tip the sofa bed up at 45 degree angle, remove the drawer under the sofa to access it. even then it was stretch, i have 36" sleeve length! There is no fuse protection in line from either battery. Had to switch the 12V power switch behind the sofa several times for it to reset.
Lesson: wire nut all open connections as soon as they are disconnected to prevent any shorts!!
Thanks to all that replied. Forums are great stuff.

I have a 2009 30' AS -- same issue -- blew something when We plugged in heater and turned on micro-wave. Trying to find red re-set button and/or fuse that could of blown.
Think I have looked everywhere -- there is a fuse next to the front gaucho on the street side -- 25 A -- doesn't look blown.
Any ideas. Thanks.
