Lift kit or skid plate
Hi,
I am Lou and I have a 2007 Safari. The TV is a 2003 GMC Yukon. I very much like the combination. My problem is I live on 3 miles of very bad rocky bumpy dirt road. I have successfully gone in and out several times in the last 2 years until the last time. My Airstream is now in the shop getting the black tank and all the associated plumbing replaced. That started me to thinking about a lift or a skid plate of some kind.
I have spent some time on here reading about the lift kits available for the Dexter axle. I am not the guy who is going to attempt to DIY, but I totallly trust my dealer service dept in Albuquerque.
I need to do something or it is jut a matter of time before it happens again no matter how slowly and carefully i go, especially when it is muddy.
I would like some feedback from some of you who have lifted their trailer. Does it work well? How much does it affect the towing experience? Does it seem to affect axle life? Has anyone tried a skid plate or some sort of protection for the plumbing? Thanks,
