Hi Dave,

Consider even wider than 2 x 8s. 10 or 12s make backing onto them easier, and you are not lugging them around anyway. Pressure treated of course. Welcome to the forums!

So if I have a 25' dual axle trailer, then cutting a 10' or 12' piece of 2x10 or 2x12 into say four equal length pieces should be sufficient?

I cut one 2X8 about 12 1/2" at the base with a slight angle on each end. Many times this board goes between the tires when I need to back up onto boards. My second 2X8 is about 2" longer at the base. I've never needed to raise one side of the trailer any higher than 1 1/2" so these two have served their purpose adequately.

Never had to adjust more then 1 1/2 inches? Lucky guy! I have 2 sets of Lynx Levelers and will build 3 inch ramps alot. I like them because they stow in a case under the bed when not in use.

The worst place for level is a trip we make every year to a lake in Northern AZ. We park in a meadow that slopes down to the lake. This year we dug about an 8 inch deep hole on the high side and added 3 inches on the low side. It was perfect!

i carry 7 pcs of 2x6 about 14 inches long that i stole from a construction jobsite. i might add w/o guilt of any sort.

if you boondock, 1 1/2 - 3 inches is not outa the question for leveling.

You better check that again Kev. I think those went up in flames at Deadhorse in February.
