Jacks don't fit. Neck on A-frame??

Hi all,

I need to install a jack on my A-frame, as the one I towed the trailer home with was a very temporary set-up. However, the jack I purchased does not fit because there is a collar/neck coming up and blocking the legs passage.

Has anyone ever seen this before? I have not come across anywhere of this issue on the web. I'm not very knowledgeable on these things quite yet. Would really appreciate any info/advice on how I can proceed, hopefully something that wouldn't involve towing the trailer away (as it would be a bit more difficult )

Generally the hole in the coupler flange and the hole below the A frame line up and are the same size. If that is the case the jack should drop down in through both holes. You need the top and bottom holes to stabilize the jack.

If there is interference at the lower hole you may have to have it cut larger but do not allow who ever cuts it to make the hole bigger than necessary for the above reason.

Thanks Howie. I just am not sure if there are jacks made for this type of set-up, as it seems it was intentionally kept just a bit smaller then the hole above it.

The older AS had sleeve in lower hole for smaller dia. jack. as my 76 AS had this sleeve, little work but it came out.
