Does anyone know how to remove the caster wheel from the tonge jack on a '54 18 footer? The wheel housing is riveted around the column but appears to be readily removable, somehow. does it unscrew or press onto the column? I've posted a photo.
I know, this is old, but I just found it by accident… and I have the answer!
These old caster wheels just slip on the jack tube. Shoot some WD or PB in it and tap it off with a BFH (dead-blow would work best).
This was the OP’s final post on Airforums - 8 ½ years must have been too long to wait for a reply.
I'd like to purchase a caster wheel for the tongue jack of my 2017 Airstream Sports 16. Camping World has item 29036 for a 1-5/8" and item 29041 for
an 2 inch jack. They both are listed with 1000 lbs of weight capacity. Does this weight capacity specify the tongue weight which is less than 400 lbs for our Airstream 16 or the weight of the entire travel trailer which is about 3000 lbs?
My opinion is it is the capacity of the caster wheel. I had one I used on my Safari 25 with 700# of tongue weight.
You might want to check with Northern Tool. I got mine at Harbor Freight but I wanted another and HF didn't have them any more. NT had a pretty good price, as I recall.
