Installing Electric Trailer Jack

I just purchased the Husky 5,000 lb electric trailer jack, probably overkill for my 2019 Sport 22, but the price was great. Looking at the instructions everything is straightforward. To attach to the battery do I need to drill a hole through the plastic battery cover?

No drilling required. Just feed the wire through the same place the battery cable feeds. I zip tiied mine to the cable.

If you can install the fuse in the line inside the battery case. This will give the max. protection should the jack feed wire ever short to the chassis.

If a fuse did not come with the jack get a 30 amp inline fuse and holder and use #12 wire.

Hi. Just got a 1978 Minuet 6 Metre and need to replace the electric jack. Can you talk a little more about what I should do relative to the fuse and installing it. Very new at this.

I recently installed a Husky 5k - no fuses; they now come with a circuit breaker, which lives quite comfortably inside the battery box.

When I installed an electric jack to replace the manual jack on my Safari, I connected the positive wire to the battery positive post. Mine came with an inline fuse holder.
