Help for specs on manual crank handle

I do not have the manual crank for the super jack and was thinking why not just make one to use with the cordless drill I have. What I need to know is the shaft diameter, the diameter of the pin, length of pin and distance from bottom of shaft to the pin. Anyone?? I guess it would also be good to find out if anyone has actually used the manual jack and if you think a drill is powerful enough for it. The drill is an 18 volt 1/2" one. I know when using it for the stabilizers, you need to really hold it or it will twist right out of your hands

Thanks, Bob

Thumbs up

Bob,

I don't know if you need any measurements that specific, it's just a shaft with a roll pin pressed in.

We are under a couple feet of snow here on the Shores of Erie, I'll find my crank and measure when the storage compartments see daylight again.

I've already got this on my todo list for this winter. I was thinking of drilling through an appropriate sized extra socket and pressing in a roll pin. It would then work with a ratchet handle or with an adapter on the cordless drill I use for the stabilizers.

Thanks Bob for the photos. I went ahead and made one up. Not much to it so making another would not be a big deal. I used 1/2" diameter for the shaft with an 1/8" pin. It still would be nice if I had the specs to make sure it fits

Silver Goose, I did something like that, only threaded in an Allen plug on the other end so it can be used with 1/2" drill, Allen wrench or ratchet with an Allen attachment

Wow, that's a professional looking tool you made. I will rethink my idea of repurposing a socket for this task. Now you need to test it out. Just remember once you remove the power head and change the position of the leadscrew in the jack, you'll need to sync the limit switches. Here's the excerpt from the manual:

Use the crank to fully retract post.
Crank jackpost one turn in opposite direction
Ground powerhead to jackpost or trailer frame.
Push switch away from jackpost housing (as if retracting post).
Hold switch until motor stops running(as if jackpost is retracted all the way).
Install powerhead and tighten set screws.

I decided to take the top off and see if this would work. Those 2 set screws were a pain in the to loosen up! anyway, here are 2 more photos to show what it looks like. I did change 2 things from what I had. 1) the 1/8" pin is to small, 3/16" was a better fit. The Allen plug I used on the other end was not a good idea. So, what I ended up with is a 12 MM socket pressed onto that end. Being an aluminum shaft, it worked like a champ. The1/2" size for the shaft is perfect, you can not go any bigger. Silver Goose, I think your socket idea sounds great
