My jack is currently in the process of self destructing. I am going to replace it with the Husky 82022 Super Brute Electric Jack with Remote Control - 5000 lb. Capacity.

Thanks AWCHIEF. Just reviewed on eTrailer and I'm sold. Hopefully I won't drop the trailer with one.

Electric tongue jack replacement

I installed a Husky Super Brute a few months ago because I hated the Atwood that came with my 2017. Great jack, silver looks nice with the AS and the remote is kinda handy too. Click image for larger version

$130 cheaper on Amazon than Etrailer.

Looks great. What you didn't like the Atwood, grind, grind, click, click, click for a few inches of lift? I think I will do like you and Michael and get me one of those soon. Beats me why on earth they put a 3000LBS jack on a 30' FC.

I take it that it is a fairly straight forward installation using a jack stand under the tongue?

Don't need a jack stand. Just hook up to your vehicle. Easy peasy.

We replaced the Atwood 3000 that came on our 2016 FC 27FB within 2 months of purchase with a Husky HB4500, a step below the ones mentioned above.

Love the Husky, no remote, but I tend to like getting up close & personal with the jack controls when hitching up.

Curious thing - when I was getting the description together to sell the Atwood on Ebay, I noticed the instruction manual, front page in a boxed-in section labeled "CAUTION PERSONAL INJURY/PROPERTY DAMAGE" - it had 3 warnings - the 3rd one was, and I quote,

"Use 4000 lb. Heavy Duty Power Jack if you use equalizer bars between the trailer and the tow vehicle"

Excuse me? Does this not mean if you're using WD hitch, the 3000-lb. jack is not enough? Maybe I should call Airstream and ask them to reimburse me the difference in cost for having to buy the CORRECT jack?

Look at Bulldog Electric Jacks

Hi-
I had very good luck with a Bulldog brand jack.
Ran very quiet compared to the Atwood. Apparently different gearing.
I was very impressed with the emergency crank that fit into the socket
under the tight fitting rubber cap.

Not just a socket like the Atwood..A real crank.

Well made with a very easy installation plate.

Hook your trailer to the tow vehicle, remove three bolts. Drop in the new jack
put the new bolts back into the frame. Attach the positive wire to your battery and your are good to go.
Self grounding through the frame.

Good video on the Bulldog Industries website.
It cost a few extra bucks and you get quality.

Comes with a 5 year limited warranty.

I ended up lowering the tongue down on a big stack of leveling blocks so I had more room to work when I swapped it.

Serious caution: the Husky 5000 is a monster. I was hitching up and putting my Equal-i-zer bars on and sitting in a bit of a dip. Before I knew it, I had lifted the back wheels of my truck off the ground. The jack never even groaned or changed noise.

I don't get it. If you have equalizer bars, isn't the weight on the tongue reduced? As the jack is raised the bars relax.
As the jack is lowered, the weight is transferred to the equalizer bars, but the jack is not pushing down!

Maybe they meant: "If your trailer is so heavy it needs a equalizer hitch, then don't bother with our dinky jacks. We only call it the 3000# to indicate it's stronger than the 2000#.
We never actually tested it."

I also accidentally lifted the trucks tires 4" off the pavement with the Brute 5000. It had no trouble lifting the truck and 600 lb tongue weight. Luckily we were on level ground so the whole thing didn't take off downhill skidding the jack pad! Hopefully the Husky will hold up well. The remote is a nice addition.

The jack is used to lift everything for connecting and disconnecting the weight distribution hitch. So you want it beefier than the normal jack assy.

When you install it, Try turning the new jack 90 degrees as this may allow clearance for the tailgate if that's what your using.

Sounds like this would be good for the big Avion 10 meter. Any thoughts ?

Looks like it may still be under warranty. Happened to me last Winter and Barker sent a replacement head. Easy to install.
