Back to topic. Ordered a Husky Brute yesterday. Original Atwood works but sounds like it struggles. This is 3rd season on 30ft International.

One note of caution about picking up the rear wheels on the TV mentioned in a couple of posts in this thread. Do not do this! You put your truck in Park and you set the e-brake. Then you jack the rear wheels off the ground. Better hope your trailer is chocked otherwise nothing holding your rig from rolling off except the jack foot. Caution required.

Hi,
The Atwood Premier 4000 came with my 2017 25' international doesn't work right.
When I tried to hook up with the my truck, if I press the ext/ret switch, it will go up but it will only make "clicking" sounds without moving when I press the "ret".

When I used my floor jack to hold the a-frame to "release" the load/weight from the Atwood hitch jack, it goes up and down without any problem when I press the switch.

When the hitch jack is holding the tongue weight, I could crank it manually to make it go up and down but "more effort" is needed when going down.

It seems that a Husky Super Brute 5000 will be a good replacement but do I really need a whole replacement or something could be done on the unit?

More weight on jack because we are lifting the TV too to ease the pressure on the bars. (Ea Z Lift.) So extra weight for that. Mine just stopped lifting but will go down. Called Barker and they said it was the toggle switch. sent me a new one, no cost.

If my 2017 came with a Barker, I’d still have it, even if it was lower capacity than the Husky, but the Atwood the new ones come with is junk.

I did a post about the Husky 5000 and turning it so the tailgate cleared.
If it helps anyone, I'd be delighted.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f457...ys-196460.html

There's only two electrical connections, and both require a YELLOW (12 ga) crimp connector available at Ace Hardware or your local hardware store, but not Lowe's or HD. One will be a butt splice (two wires end to end) and the other a ring terminal (5/16" ring) for attaching to the battery. No brainer if you have a crimp tool.
The Husky has plenty of wire, so you'll just attach the breaker to the battery.

Put some protection on the jack head because those screws scratch the propane cover. Even though they look innocent enough. I used some grey industrial velcro over the screw. (Fuzzy side only)

Question Flag holder?

I have one of John Leake’s 5-flag holders on my tongue jack. We currently have a Barker Hi-Power 3000 turned 90 degrees toward the curb side and the flag holder works perfectly. Unfortunately, my Barker has begun to groan and scream as it raises the tongue in order to more easily manipulate the Blue Ox stabilizer bars. Not long ago, it blew the 40 amp inline fuse - I replaced the blown 40 with a 30 and have so far had no additional problems. I’m seriously considering the Husky Brute 5000, but don’t want to give up my flag holder. Any advice/experience on this related issue? Thx!

Jim,

Send my email via pm and I'll send pic of the custom fitted spacer block. I'll even tell you where I got it from.

Gary up the road a bit

I replaced mine with Husky Brute 4500 model 88141. Same size as the Barker but you have to redrill the mounting holes. I also relocated one of the 3 lights to the rear - now side because it is turned. I used a hole saw and plugged the old hole with an electrical box hole plug and resealed it works perfect.

I have a stock Ram 2500 Longhorn 4x4. Has anyone installed the Husky 5000 and not had to turn it for tailgate clearance? Curious before I purchase.

Cheers

Knotflying - did you get a response? How did the jack mount up? Same truck here, and my current jack is failing.

Which tongue lift should we use for our Airstream NEST?

Tongue weight is around 400lbs, I would not bother with an electric jack, it will be much simpler with a lot less things to go wrong to use a mechanical one.

I would suspect that's what kind came with it originally.

If you are looking for an electric because a mechanical one doesn't work for you for some reason, then I would suggest the smallest one you can find. Etrailer.com's smallest is rated for 2,500lbs, way overkill for your application, in my opinion.

If it was mine I would probably get something like:

Good luck with your search.
