Electric Hitch Jack Foot

Recently bought a 2017 27FB Intl Serenity. I have encountered a problem with the removable electric hitch jack foot. When the tongue is on the tow vehicle, with proper ground clearance, there is only a very small amount of ground clearance to remove the foot. In one recent case, I had to dig a small trench to remove the foot due to the irregular ground at the site. Does anyone know if there is a shorter removable foot, 3 inches shorter is all that is needed. I can use an 8x8 or similar block to get the needed height to install the anti-sway bars.

The hitch jack has an ajustabe foot. I remove the pin when on the hitch. Then I lower it 4 positions if I am setting up camp. If I am getting underway I pull the pin when I have the jack fully retracted push the foot all the way up. I may be hard to understand, take another look and you will see what I mean. Good Luck[emoji41]

I installed a FlipFoot on a couple of my trailers . Works great and gives you more lift .

The folks at Colonial Airstream had suggested removing the foot when in transit and then another said to leave it in. Any thoughts on this? Don;t want the foot falling out when in transit. I know there is a "locking" pin, but I'm a bit concerned.

Hi

I pull the foot when in transit. Others seem to leave it in place. Moving the foot up a couple of holes may be needed for some lash ups. It sounds a bit like you may be riding a bit low though.

All sound advice. For me I pull the pin and drop the foot 4 or 5 spots setting up so I don't have to use the extend button as much, coming off the hitch....then when I am heading out I pull the pin after hitching up, slide the foot all the way up, replace pin. Mmm Never have to worry about scrapping (jack) foot on pitched entries and departures driveways in or out of gas stations, rest areas or rv parks. Got the tip right here on this forum. Great stuff.

I have the foot in the upper most position, use a wood block under the foot, and when raised the foot is even with the frame.
Maybe that's because the jack is an Atwood 4K. and possibly has a shorter leg.
