Gene,

I think part of this may depend on where your batteries are and what the installer feels is best. My Classic the batteries are not in the battery box in the tongue they are in individual locked boxes in the front on each side. I maintained the original wiring config.

My batteries are in the current style battery box on the tongue. The stock wire from the Husky was at least 6' too long. I left an extra 2' and tucked it down by the batteries. Then when I turned the jack 90 deg. I didn't need to cut the wire.
HINT to Manufacturers: How about putting both sets of holes on your jack plate? 0 and 90 degrees. Some do!
