Barker H & H Super Jack Problem-HELP!!!!

HELP!!!!!

Tried to raise and lower the jack, and the fuse blew. Changed the fuse, then removed the two allen screws to operate it manually(to try it out). Followed the owners manual to place the head back, and now it makes a humming noise without the ratcheting action. What are we doing wrong??????? Blew a few more fuses in the process. Just purchased the 2004 25ft Safari on April 2nd.

Thanks,
Gail

What do you mean by "racheting action"? Does the jack not move at all? If the motor runs, but the jack does not move you may have extended or retracted the jack too far, stalling the motor and thus burning out the fuse and stripping the gears. I blew a fuse in mine by running the jack a moment too long at the end of it's travel, but I didn't strip the gears. I think there are supposed to be limit switches to prevent all this, but they don't seem to work on mine.

You could also burn out the fuse and/or strip gears by accidentally reversing direction of the jack without allowing it to stop in between.

One you use the jack manualy it must be synchronized. Try this link to the instructions.

The wire connections were all loose in mine. I had to use a needle nose pliers to tighten the spades to clamp harder on the shovel connectors.

Took "Daisy" to the dealer today, and the jack is now operable again. Problem- the timing was off, and the jack would not stop. It would continue to run and the gears would strip and blow the fuse. The dealer had to take the parts from another AS since they don't keep these parts in stock(ie-limit switch, gear jack fiber). They reasured us that these jacks are very good and seldom come in for repairs.

The whole dealerships' staff including the owner, gm, service gm, sales personal, were all talking to us. We were out in 1 hour. Everyone was making sure things went okay. Good bunch of folks at Marty's USRV at Berkley,MA.
