BAL jacks
Does anyone know where to get a single traditional (galvanized) BAL stabilizer jack. We were at Jackson Center this summer and they were out. I am currently using a scissors jack on one corner (broke one in a classic brain fart-when I didn't raise it all the way prior to moving in the yard)
The only thing I can find is the painted versions..
I hate to mix em up-although I guess I could paint the new one silver...

You should be able to find them at most Airstream dealers. Inland RV and Out-of-Doors Mart both show them on their websites.

The problem is that Inland sells them in a set of four- I only need 1!
I don't see them at ODM...

Nope.
We sell them one, or more, at a time, and always have.

They are listed on ODM's website as a set of 4, But you can call and order one or two as needed. Enter "BAL" in the search box to bring it up.
You can get them from any Airstream dealer, and every one I know will happily sell you only one.

You might want to try Ryan at www.rvrevive.com. He buys wrecked Airstream's & parts them out.

Just the post I was looking for! I "NEED" one but would like to replace more, we'll see what I can budget for... Thanks Andy, I'll be looking you up! The important thing for me is to find an exact match of the bolt pattern. I really don't want to put any more holes in the old girl than the previous owners did...

Steve,
install of the BAL jacks is pretty straight forward. You just attach them to the frame as indicated in the instructions. The front and rear frame attachments are pretty much in line with the rivet line on the side of the trailer. Make sure you use the correct size drill bit and be careful not to make the hole too big. I did and just bought a couple of self taping bolts the next size larger.

Nice job! I crawled under there and took my back ones off for some minor retuning and lubrication. Easy off. Easy on. Solid.

Greg - thanks. I just climbed under and used a grease gun and spread it the length of the screw. Lasts about a year before making noise.

I just got a full set from Inland RV too. Shipping to FL was a bit steep but I pretty much knew I was getting what I needed. I left 2 jacks outside for a day or 3 till I had time to install them. I noticed some rust forming FAST on some small scratches and nicks. Anyone think a quick coat of 'rustolium' type spray paint on the plain steel (painted) parts a good idea before I install?

I've tried every kind of grease known to man over the years. All they do is attract sand and grit. Silicone spray once a year is the best way to go, IMO.

I like silicone spray too as a maintenance but only when when one gets a bit tough to operate. Best for me was when I renovated mine a few years ago I used Moiy-disulfide dry lube ( snowmobile CVT clutch spray) in the shop after cleaning/servicing them first, and this has been for me fantastic! No rust or grit issues.

I figured I would just send my trailer to Tim - (tkasten) for his photo's and a quick polish job.
Thanks everyone for your information. Being a "ROOKIE" I appreciate all your reply's. I have ordered my jack and am awaiting arrival as of 09-03-11. I will report back.
Thanks,
