Window weather stripping????

I just checked and all my windows gaskets are shot! I found the "double flap" and "d" weatherstripping. Can this just be "pushed" in to install or do you have to do anything else? I haven't found any info on how to replace and now I can't go out and look becuase the AS is 90 miles away. I need to go ahead and order for next weekend.

I am facingthe same issue. I've pulled all my windows and removed the film (nasty) but gaskets all need replacement. Take plenty of pics as you do this so lazy ones like myself can benifit from your pain I did do somthing different a while back that seems to have had a good payoff. I drilled drain holes in the window sill body. Can't really see them unless you have the windows open but they did help manage water leakage quite nicely. With the windos closed, the holes are not visable. I will need to nip the lower gasket when I install fresh ones, but the old ones do not seal up the holes even with the window closed tight.

That is a good idea about the drain holes. One of my windows had about and inch of standing water in it after I opened it. I'll take some photos of the fix. But I don't want to have to remove rivets and re-rivet If I don't have to.

Drain holes serve no purpose one trailer opening windows.

The original double flap gasket worked well fo many years, but we came up with a "D" shaped gasket that does a superior job.

Very easy to install, as well.

About 7' per window, I like to add about 10% for cutting and error...

Did you look here for your style?

I have used them before. I didn't see the correct gasket there. I need a few other items and will be calling Inland tommorrow.

My 75 sovereign fixed windows are leaking. Any advise on how to repair without pulling the entire window out?

Purchase some Vulkem sealer. "CLEAN" the metal to glass seam, "VERY WELL".

Apply a nice bead of Vulkem that bridges the metal frame and the glass.

That repair will last a long long time and will never leak, if you do it right.

You should also apply a bead of vulkem to the top and both sides of the fixed windows. Again, a clean surface, is a must.

Now the only fixed window leak you might have, is if the glass breaks. The vulkem won't help that problem.

Similar story to many others but here goes for the sake of repitition. I have a 1973 Excella and probably paid a little too much but it is completely original. Something important for me.

The floors were solid except for one place under the rear nightstand (rear double) and couldn't be seen until it was removed. The other place was right around the front door. It was obviuos that the weather stripping was shot. I called Andy at Inland RV and had the right stuff shipped. I took out each window, cleaned the edge and applied new weather stripping with sealant. It didn't take too ling and I have not seen a drop in the bos after several hard rains. The most difficult part was getting the windows back in the track. It would help to have an assistant expecially for the big ones. I was not very scientific about it. I just kind of eye-balled it and cut the excess with a razor knife. I only wasted inches at most. The door was the most difficult since it could not be removed.

It was the most satisfying job I've done so far. Great guys a Inland RV. Try to order everything you need at once. It is like receiving an early Christmas package.

Gasket is not used between the glass and metal frame of the fixed windows.

A "D" shaped gasket, #45370 is used on the back side of the opening window and the entrance door, as well as the access doors.

If your in the gasket replacing mode, check the sewer vent pipe gaskets. They have a life span of 5 years or so.

On the topic of Gasket replacement and leak control. I have two top mounted Vista View Windows that both have really bad leaks. I am assuming that I can take out the mounting screws, the glass will fall back- into the trailer, and then I can clean and prep the frame for new Butyl tape before replacing the glass and securing with the screws. Is this right? has anyone done this one before?

You don't need to do that.

Clean the glass to metal junction, so that it's chemically clean.

Apply a nice neat bead of Vulkem sealer to the glass/metal junction.

That sealing job will out last you.
