Window Gaskets; How many feet?

Hi , I have a 1972, 31' Sovereign and have to change all the gaskets on the windows and door. Does anyone know how many feet of gasket I'll need and is it the "D" type. Now that it's spring it's finally time to get to work on my restoration project! Thanks to all who reply!

The "D" type is a superior upgrade from the original.

You have 8 windows that open, plus the entrance door and access compartments.

I have a chart at my office that tells us "how many feet," but right now I'm home.

You heard wrong for your Airstream.

5, 6 and 7 feet was used on the 66, 67 and 68 models.

As an example, a medium window on your trailer is 20 1/2 inches by 29 inches.

That's 99 inches, or for one window, 9 feet.

Gasket is sold by the "foot."

I have a 1970 International 27'. What type of gaskets do I need for the baggage doors? I have 3 fridge, battery and rear and the entry door. Also, should I use the same on the windows? Thanks ALL!!

Original gaskets for the windows and the doors.

Window and Door seal 682520 [682520] - $0.79 : ODMRV , Out-of-Doors Mart

Some will recommend the newer D shaped gasket as a replacement and it is easier to install. Personally, I liked it on the side access doors - I did not like it on the windows.
Also installed it on the rear access door and ended up removing it and going back to the original - in my case it sealed better.

Yes.

The "D" gasket is superior to the original.

Instructions to properly install it are simple.

I cannot tell you how many feet as I am out of town until 2-15.

Will the "D" window seal work on 2008 Classics?

When I went to the website listed a few post before I see no listing for newer models. Does this work on those models too?

Thanks,

Yes.

The "D" gasket will work on any Airstream trailer windows, from the 50's to current models.

Depending on the year of the trailer, the gasket is attached to either the glass frame, or to the part that's riveted into the shell.

As an example, for the windows that used the "thin gray domed gasket", you can improve the gasket performance by installing the gasket on the metal frame that's riveted into the shell, instead of on the window frame itself.

The original gray domed gasket used way back then, was a way to seal the window from rain, well..... sort of, if you have a huge imagination.

Today, that bulb gasket is a joke, and a bad one at that.

It permanently compresses to a flat surface in a matter of a couple of months.

The "D" gasket, does not have that same issue, and does a superior job sealing the rain out, even at highway speeds.
