Question water seeping in compartment door

The rear compartment door housing my battery etc does not shut entirely tight and there is water seeping in (lots of it) through that opening. I need to replace the stripping around the door but I still don't think that will work. Suggestions? 'Thanks.

The gasket is the key, assuming the door is not damaged.

Hi and thanks for your help. The door does not fit tightly against the frame, there is some space where the water can get inside. would replacing the gasket prevent seepage even with a gap?

It sounds like the arm of the lock that rotates and holds the door in place when locked is bent inward and not allowing the door to close flush with the trailer. I had that problem with my battery compartment doors and bent them back into place with no problem afterward. If you can push on the door and make it flush then I would try that first.

thanks Randy, I was thinking of trying that also. I guess they should have put a lip over that door, would have saved me alot of headaches!
