Trim gasket to edge of cover and then vulkem the top and the sides? The gasket kept sliding back up the pipe and ended up about 1/2 inch higher on the curbside than the top. And how the the heck do you find the screw holes? The gasket kept self sealing any holes I made. Thanks. Jack p.s. Will take newly gained advice and tape off area around the base of the vent cap

You can trim around the gasket, and then apply Vulkem to the top and sides of the cover, only.
An easy way to find the screw holes, is stick a needle thru the gasket and into a hole. Then add the cover, that will get you started in the right direction.
