Silicone tent seam sealant over rivet heads

Has anyone tried liquid tent seam sealer to seal around roof rivets? I know there is a lot of info/opinion/controversy about silicone sealants on our trailers but, a thin silicone sealer "painted" over the rivets of my roof might put an end to the persistent but fairly small leak I have. If I laid down a tape barrier along the path of the rivets then brushed a thin silicone wash over them, wouldn't it seep around and under the rivet heads and make a seal? Your thoughts will be most valuable, thanks!

Silicone won`t stick to aluminum, unless it`s in a place you don`t want it. Dave

Have you resealed all roof rivets and seams with Vulkum? The PO of our Safari had used silicone on the roof rivets but missed the leak which was around the vent pipe. It took us several days of very hard work to remove all the old silicone before polishing. I resealed all rivets and seams with Vulkum and got rid of all the leaks.

DO NOT use any form of silicone sealer on the exterior of any Airstream ever built.

If you do, you will quickly learn all to many nasty words.

Use Vulkem or Par-bond.

Andy, are suggesting that I use parbond to daub each rivet head or that I do the tape off thing then run a thin stripe of sealant down the lines of roof rivets?
