Shur-Flo gasket material

Is fiber/rubber gasket material suitable for the gasket at the city water inlet? It’s on a 2005 Safari. There was no gasket material on the old one, just a combination of plumber’s putty and what may have been a Sika-type sealant in between the skins.

I’ve read about a gasket kit for these, but need a fix today before traveling tomorrow.

Thanks for any input!

Dave

The only gasket is the rubber washer where the hose connects.
The seal between the inlet itself and the skin is caulk.
If city water is leaking from anything other than the hose washer, it's time for a replacement.

from ShurFlo's instructions:
"Seal flange with suitable caulking to prevent exterior water from damaging wall construction."

assuming you are asking about this>

Ah!!! Thank you guys! That’s correct—city water inlet. Thought I’d read about a gasket between the outer skin and the inlet itself.

Will be using a tube of AdSeal I’ve got on hand. Thanks again!!!

The part of the original seal that looks like plumbers putty is probably butyl putty tape.
It is not unusual to use putty tape when attaching fans, vents, etc., sort of like a gasket to fill large gaps. Use the screws and hand pressure to compress the putty and fixture against the skin, then trim away the excess at the edge. Then the urethane caulk goes around the perimeter as a seal. Doing it this way, next time maintenance is needed it is easier to remove.

I would not use Adseal silicone caulk, but Airstream is using and selling it at their store.
IMO, things are going downhill!
