Self-Leveling Sealant for Aluminum
Can someone please remind me the preferred self-leveling sealant product for aluminum? (I have a 1972 Streamline.) I have used Dicor on my SOB, and want a similar product for my Streamline. Thanks!

I just used it to reseal my ffan and vents. Ffan had a crack in the plastic collar, causing a small water drip.
Aluminum wasn't an issue for me, after all, since all the seals are in the white plastic roof area of my AS. But it went on well, right over the old stuff, which I just scrubbed, but did not remove. So time will tell.

So you all used white Dicor on your roof? Just double-checking I understand, not questioning.
Thanks!

All of our local Airstream dealers use and sell the Dicor Lap Sealant Self-leveling white. I've used it for both roof penetrations and solar installations on our two Airstreams. It is good stuff!

I used Sikaflex 715 on my last vent project. The self leveling caulk made the job look like it was done by a pro!
I have used Dyco C-10 self leveling caulk but I liked working with the Sikaflex much better.

Thanks all!
I have some tubes of white Dicor, and will use that. My Streamline is not a matchy-matchy beauty queen.

I might as well jump in, as I use sealants by the case every month.........
Dicor has very high VOC content and will start to exhibit cracking in as little as 6 months after application. It is easy to simply clean the cracking surface and re-apply, but WHY when there are better formulas available.
Sika 715 is a good sealant and is a Silane terminated polymer. I have used tons of it in the past and it self-levels nicely and has good durability and longevity.
The BEST self-levelling sealant that I have found, and the ONLY one that I will use now is made by Alpha Sealants...#1021. It takes a bit longer to fully cure out, but once it does it forms a more structurally sound seal that closely resembles cured rubber. Also comes in white, black and grey. Most of the larger RV OEMs use this stuff as it also comes in 55 gallon drums, and they have pneumatic application systems for large application requirements.
It might be a bit harder to locate, but the company is in Indiana and I highly recommend this product, along with SikaFlex 221 as a non-leveling adhesive sealant.
Remember, you can always level the bead yourself using a plastic putty knife just like Airstream does on every trailer that leaves Jackson Center................

Where to buy alpha sealants?
Darn it, the internet is fouling me up. 3 different websites sell it without saying color they have... and the big box hardware stores default to DAP products. Nearest Camping World is 200 miles away, and their help desk isn't able to actually HELP ( they list the manufacturer as Alpha Systems which doesn't inspire trust). Would the average RV shop sell it? Fastenal?

I have a new 2017 International 28'. I noticed there is a paper thin space between the belt line trip and the body. It's about one inch long and when I push on the trim it moves in slightly. Should I be concerned?

My experience with Dicor sealant has been mixed. Since I read here that many people used Dicor I thought it would be the correct thing for me to use.
I used Dicor when I installed sewer vent covers 2 years ago. Dicor has held up well on those, with some minor cracking.
I used Dicor to reseal the Ventline fan on the Excella roof. It was cracked and leaking again within 12 months.
I used Dicor when I installed the skylights on the Excella 2 years ago. It is cracked where exposed. But not leaking.
I used Dicor when I installed a skylight for a friend on a his Winnebago. It was cracked and leaking terribly (ceiling water damaged) within 12 months.
I decided I will no longer use Dicor.
I am planning to remove all of it from my trailers as I do maintenance.
From now on, I'm not using any self leveling caulk. Going back to masking the perimeters with tape and tooling the caulk for a smooth finish.
I have used Sika successfully. I am experimenting with Lexel since it seems to be more readily available (and the manufacturer specifically recommends it for RV use)

Trempro 635
I have been using Trempro 635 for all my patches and to wet set rivets. Can I use it when installing new fans instead of one of the previously mentioned products?
