Roof caulk I can buy at Lowe's

I'm sure its here somewhere, but I give up looking.
I need to re-caulk around somethings on the roof,
and was looking at Lowe's website and found this.

Shop LOCTITE 10 Oz. White Polyurethane at Lowes.com

Anyone have any thoughts about a good caulk I can buy
today at Lowe's? Or is Sikaflex God's gift from heaven,
and I must use it? Would appreciate any thoughts from
experienced caulkers.

Thanks
Dale

Why take a risk with any product, when it's well known what the factory has used for many years?

Parts can be ordered on line, or by telephone.

Loctite products

That paticular product detail has this warning - Not Recommended For: Contact with oil-based caulking compounds, butyl caulking compounds and silicone sealants (uncured and cured) - So maybe its an out for them on warranty to never repair old work with it?

Can you get a fresh clean surface to seal?

Lowes search for a good 3M sealant<--- absolute sealant for boat hulls..

If you can't mail or internet order in something and need it now the 3M 5200 line is around $16 a tube and cant be beat

I've often wondered if any of the building material caulkings are superior to what is used on the trailers. We recently replaced some house windows and I dug out and scraped off a ton of 18 year old caulking that seemed to be oil-based and cracked.

I don't think the new polyurethane caulking will crack like the oil-based stuff on my house windows and I see on the roof of my 2007 Safari.

So what do you guys and gals think about using a polyurethane product if I am doing a total roof caulking removal and reseal in the spring?

Hi Dale, Fastenal sells Tempro. Locations | Fastenal. They have lots of locations and Tempro works as good sealer. I have found Tempro 636 Silver at my local Fastenal and was told it is a stock item nation wide.

I have used Seal Mate (aluminum or gray color) for over five years. No leaks, no pealing, no discoloration. I even use it on panel seams.

Is Sikaflex a better caulk than Vulkem? Parbond is so cool for mouldings, etc.

In a pinch, I've used anything that was the proper color, contained no latex or silicone and said 'Polyurethane"...One tube was 'concrete' color, matched the aluminum pretty good and has held up as good, or better, that all the 'proper' stuff...

If you are removing and replacing anything that requires sealant I would use Vulkem and no other. I recently stripped a 69 caravel to the frame and the original sealant (Vulkem) under the wheel wells and between panels is still amazingly sticky, flexable and doing it's job. I've restored several RV's of different makes over the years and have never seen a product that held up as well as this stuff. LIke Andy said, why chance it? With all the labor involved to prep for sealing, saving a couple of bucks on sealant should be a non issue (in my humble opinion) :-)
