Reseating and sealing window frame after replacing a skin

Doing a shell off refurbishment of a 1963 Bambi

Had to replace a skin that has a window. Taped off the seams, and used Trempro 635 to seal between the skins. The window frames seem to have a much "bulkier" material to seal the frames to the skin. Got some "tacky-tape" from the local RV parts store. However this seem a little to thick & spongey and not sure if the forces involved in buck riveting will dimple and deform the window frame without something solid behind it

When reseating a window frame, still use Trempro 635, the bulkier tacky-tape or something different all together ?

Dont use the tape. They were originally installed with 2 sided tape, but over the years, the tape shrinks & deteriorates. The bucked rivet is not set properly at that point and is a good place to leak.

Just scrape all that crap off, and use your vulkem/ trempro to set it back in "wet" and buck all new rivets into the wet sealant. Use enough to squeeze out and wipe of excess as necessary.

WD40 works well for cleaning up excess Trempro. I prefer to use Gumout carb cleaner but it can be hard on some finishes but you probably don't have any finish at this point.
