Repairing a Vent Leak - How to?

My used Airstream had an aftermarket vent installed by the PO in front section of the trailer. Looks like when they installed the vent they dented the front corner of the AS and the roof is indented near the fan - I hope they didn't pay for the install.
I had water leakage coming from the vent and I unfortunately siliconed it to stop the leak. Does anyone know what I should do to make a correct repair? What caulk should I use? Do I have to do something to the old silicone? As always, Thanks

First, you need to remove the silicone that you used to seal it up. It won't hold up well to the aluminum (you'll doubt that when you try to remove it, but it's true). Once you have it removed, use some Tempro caulk to seal around the vent. I taped mine off around the edges to get a even edge on the inside perimeter & outside perimeter. Use your finger to smooth it out & press it into any voids that are there. If your dent isn't too big around the vent, I'd fill it with the Tempro so the water doesn't pool there (Not if it's bigger than a quarter, though). You can get Tempro from Vintage RV or Inland RV. I found some at the Fastenal by my house too.
