Does anyone have a closeup pic of a Dstyle gasket installed on a 60's Airstream Hehr window?

I'm sure you can find it on the web site.

I found this site helpful in restoring Hehr windows. Restoration Topics - Window Repairs

I just installed them on my 58 fc. I am very pleased with the results. I used a bigger d shaped gasket then inland sells and it fits the space very well.

I will try to get you a picture tomorrow.

Matt

Matt,

You changed your name? Where'd you get the larger D gasket?

There is a great trailer supply store in Sacramento with an assortment of sizes of gaskets. It's about .60 a foot.

Yes I changed my name, no particular reason.

Matt
This may be hard to explain. My 65 windows are flat glass with frame. It is my understanding that I attach the D gasket to the window itself.
On 60's models I am hearing you only do 2 sides and bottom, but need clarification.
I don't want to glue on incorrectly.
There is a lip on the window and the D fits on the lip sideways, meaning if you were looking at the window installed the oval side of the gasket is facing to the sides and down to the bottom.I assume this is correct as the edge surface is not wide enough to glue all down.If anyone has done this on a 60's model chime in .Thanks.

windows

We do have different windows. So my pictures will not help you. But I know how everyone loves pictures so I will post anyways! I had the rivot on gasket, which needed to be replaced but I am not about to pull my windows out, replace gasket and rivot them back on. So I cut the old ones out with a razor knife, sealed the edges with par-bond, and glued the new D shaped gasket on where the old gasket used to be. It created a very nice seal.

Sorry this does not apply to you, however I know there are others that may be interested.

There was no gasket on the top, so no, I just replaced what was there.

Check out McMaster-Carr on the net, they carry a ton of different gaskets and cheaper than most places.
