ge silicone II metallic silver

So i have only owned my stream for a short time and have completed alot of little things that needed to be done, one of those was resealing the outside. Before I researched on this site I noticed that the stream needed new sealant very bad. So i went to lowes and looked for anything safe for Al. I found this stuff called GE Silicone II metallic silver. It matched perfectly (if smoothed correctly you cant even see it.) It's recomended usage is Al. How is this going to affect me? There was some Silicone already on the trailer over the door and i removed this with no problems and no etching on the skin.

I know that I will be for this.

The "i removed this with no problems" should be a clue!!

- silicone sealant is not near gnarly enough for the transportation industry - you need Vulkem or other similar urethane based caulks. Also - others here use self leveling SikaFlex 221 (grey) for small seams but I admire the Vulkem-Tremco product (so far).

For general over coating of gasketed seams Acryl-R or Alcoa Gutterseal - I've used the Alcoa product and have proved to myself it weathers nicely but is a one-chance application, ooze it on in a fine bead and it instantly skims over so you have to wait for full cure to touch-up..
