Free Vulkem!

If you live near a Menards! Home Center, they have free Vulkem. It's in the caulking section.

OK, its Vulkem 116, not the more sought after 636, but it's FREE.

You need to pay for it first. $3.50 per tube. Get a rebate coupon good for $3.50 store credit. Limit 4 per household.

i have seen it as low as $1.49 a tube on sale at our menard's.

it was sandstone colored not grey as most of us are used to. i believe the difference is in the grainyness and cure time of the vulkem.

in a non visable application it could be ok, i only usually go through a tube a year for various projects on my trailer and friends rigs so the higher price for 636 is ok by me.

They're similar, but are not identical. Both are single component urethane sealants.

Frankly, I don't even know if 636 is still produced. It is specially made for adhesion to aluminum.

The 116 has excellent adhesion to aluminum also, but i think the solvent mix is a little different. 116 is an architectural product, 636 is/was an automotive product.

One other thing. The only color available is Limestone.

That's great! 116 is a little grainy but works great. 636 is smooth and is also great. I used to give it away all the time when I was shipping Airstream parts. That reminds me, I have a small warehouse of stuff left over and when I get the time this fall, I'm going to start yet another website to get the Airstream parts going again.
