Entry door seal ?

I need to replace the seal on my entry door on my 1985 Airstream all I can find is a seal offered by different venders that looks smaller than mine and is self adhesive . Mine is glued on and looks much thicker . Has anybody replaced theirs with the newer seal ? Out of Doors mart , Vintage, and Inland all show the same part . I live in Ohio and store it outside and it's getting cold don't have much more good weather to do this and want to do it right .

The larger gasket is available, that comes from Airstream.

The double sided tape is not used as such.

Adhesive is applied to it and the door.

After about 5 minutes or so, the gasket is installed, with the seam at the bottom of the door. Then adhesive is applied to both seams and pushed together. That in effect gives you a seamless gasket.

Thousands of owners have used this type gasket, so don't worry about it, as it is the correct one.

How about a photo along with the gasket dimensions.

I can then ID it for you.

Don't use the quick reply. Select reply then look for the paper clip at the top. Click it.

I just replaced the door gasket on my 85 Excella. I got it from Vintage. The adhesive on the gasket doesn't work worth a darn. It was too easy to pull the whole thing off and use black adhesive on it. Still waiting for a good rain to check for leaks.

if still leaks after new seal is properly installed door may need to be tuned.
bent to fit , check for play at top/bottom with pressure on center . if rocks top/bottom door is probably a little sprung.

You can leave the white tape in place, and simply add the black adhesive to it, as well as on the door. Then after 5 minutes or so, install the gasket on the door.

That's how we have instructed our customers for years, and as of today, not single failure.

I've found that if the trailer is not properly leveled, the door won't fit square.

That is not true, within reason, if the door was installed correctly.

It is true, however, if the trailer is put into a twist.

anytime I have a gasket or seal with pre-adhesive, I add 3M Trim Seal to the gasket and the area it is to be stuck to. Works great.

Could anyone post a photo of the product installed? I’m about to tackle the same task and want to make sure I’m orienting and applying this properly.

Cheers

Anyone? Hoping to tackle this ASAP but what I’m reading seems to go against what I’m seeing in execution, specifically on my original weatherstripping

I did all my windows and door on my 67 Caravel.
Seems like I got the gasket material from inland RV.
Worked great. I used the 3m trim glue too.
They recommended it at inland RV.

Did you use the newer D shaped or the original 1/4 x 1/2 black material?

This is it.
Used it on the door and the windows.
It provides a nice tight seal on both

Thank you for the information. Did you polish yours? I’m in the middle of doing it. Didn’t get all the clearcoat off the first time so I have to hit it again.
