Entry door lock

I am about to reinstall my door lock after it was repaired. It looks like there is an old gasket still stuck to the lock ( in bad condition ). Question...Is it a gasket or old Vulcum?

Could it be both? Some of the exterior metal parts on my '73 have a gasket between the part and the skin of the camper (like the piece of aluminum over the door that diverts the water around the door). Then that is sealed with Vulkem. Just a thought.

KT Lock

I think what you're seeing is the remnants of the double faced tape used to aid assembly, makes a fairly good gasket thought.

My 67 had a black rubber like gasket on the original lock. It finaly disintegrated on the second lock replacement.
