Caulk, what's some equivalent?

I know, I know, no silicone stuff! What's a decent caulk equivalent or substitute to the million dollar stuff they sell in RV stores (Last RV place I looked had silicone stuff)! Fog

Lundfog,

In addition to what Nick said, let me add that there are no 'hardware store' alternatives for properly sealing an RV.....especially an Airstream! There are other conpounds like Sikaflex for larg sealing requirements, or Par-Bond, Pro-Flex and especially Dicor self-leveling lap sealant for roof work, but they all cost $$$$. I agree that the Acryl-R is the finest thin-seam sealant out there. Obviously, the factory agrees also!!

You can buy Acryl-R and Sikaflex in a nice grey tone right from the Airstream web site too.

You might also check Bob Thompson's thread about painting his Airstream in which he also discusses his varying successes with Parrbond and other sealants. He by far recommended one from Home Depot, I believe, and by the time he had completed his project, he had had LOTS of experience!
