Awning holes

I was looking at possibly buying an Airstream that at one time had an awning. None of the hardware was there and the roof holes were not sealed. I have just started my Airstream search and need some advice. Thanks.

If you can get to the outer edge of the floor directly under the holes poke the floor with an ice pick. If the floor is solid changes are it never took enough water to rot the floor.

Poke around the sill of the door and around the base of the toilet as they are other points of frequent rot.

Just take a good sniff for mold.

Please keep in mind that there are and have been a bunch of awning manufacturers, some of which are history.

Looking for the awning holes could quite well mislead you.

The most popular awning for Airstreams is the "Zip Dee".

Visit their web site and you can see how their arms are mounted on the shell.

You might get lucky and find an older Airstream with the old Zip Dee mounting holes.

Welcome to Airstreaming, and all it's questions.

Andy
