Acryl-R Plews pump NOT
I can't get the Plews 30-960 pump/applicator to spew.
Background: Bought a can of Acryl-R and Pump from Jackson Center in May. Opened the can and inserted the pump yesterday, October 15. Removed small pin in tip. Pumped until my hand hurt. No Joy. Help?

So it was never used? Virgin can and pump bought a while back? I bet Airstream will allow you to return it. You could also try soaking the pump in some solvent.

May be a stupid question - but - just in case. Did your Plews gun come with the adaptor for the can. Cap off can - adaptor to can - gun to adaptor....
You could also try removing the needle tip to see if you can get it to flow. That comes in handy, by the way, when laying down a large bead like sealing the gap between the awning and trailer body.

Greg, assuming you do get things flowing, you can use the end of a rubber glove wreapped around the nozzle, secured with a rubber band, to help keep the tip from getting clogged by dried Acryl-R.
To try to get the applicator to work, remove the assembly from the can, clean it off, and try using it to pump something not as thick, say mineral spirits. If and when you do get it to pump, get the excess mineral spirits out of it, and re-insert it into the can. It should work, if not, you probably have a bad pump.

As just mentioned try a solvent but confirm that it is compatable with the Acryl-R.
My gun is at my brother's so I can't check but i think it is toluene.

As a side note. I cover the tip with cellophane when not in use and even after a year sitting in the garage it starts right up. That shows how well the stuff works at wicking into joints.

Those pumps are compatible, and are sold with the cans.

This may be a simple fix. Have you tried unscrewing the black adapter section from the can and re-seating it once or twice? The gasket that forms the seal between the can & adapter is fairly thin, so the can needs to be on really straight & tight. of there's any gap is will suck enough air to not move the rather thick sealant into the pump.
First time I used mine I swore up & down that the thing was on straight. However, when I unscrewed the can and looked at the seal there was only a partial "silver ring" of acryl-r on that seal. After a couple of screwing it back on, the seal set and I was happily pumping away.
Hope that helps.

UPDATE: Thanks for the good advice from all of you. After following most of it, it appears the pump is actually clogged or defective. I can get a smallest amount of sealer through it, but the pump never gets working well. I'll talk with The Mothership about a replacement.

Question gang?
Have got an ongoing leak at the base and lens of two teardrop clearance lights.
After several days of rain they both were 1/2 full. Have tried new lens gaskets and several different sealants nothings worked.
Anyone tried the ACRYL for this? Heard it's a pretty secure bonding sealant and don't want to seal the lens on permanently.
Thanx..
Bob

Bob, I have the same situation. I think I will use Parrbond or Vulkem though. I think Acryl R will be too firm a bond when bulb replacemet is needed.

I've tried Sika, but it's not worked very well. Hard to get an even seal under the lens. Slowed the leak a little by putting a very small o-ring around the lens mount screw,(keeps it from falling out too), and sealing around the screw head from the outside. Few more ideas i'm gonna try.
Just how hard does that ACRYL get, is it pliable at all when cured?

Kinda like hot glue...only more flexible and adheres better?????? Best I can describe.
I wonder about getting some rubber sheet material and using the foam gasket as a template (cut just a hair larger than the foam) and sealing the screw.....? I have some left over rubber roof material from my old SOB re-roof job.

Did try a 1/8" thick foam sheet, to porous i guess.
Next..an old inner tube.(remember them?)
I was thinking of adding the ACRYL to the tool kit, but if it has a short shelf life and has limited applications maybe I'll hold off and see how the tube works.
Bob.

I was going to cut out all the gaskets....but might as well see if this one does the trick. Just put it in and it's raining now so should know soon.
Hi-jack done now.

I just made 13 of the gaskets out of the old EPDM roof material and got little o-rings for the screws. But it's not forecast to rain this week. We'll see.

I used Sikaflex on the top edges and side of the rear LED clearance lights that replaced the old bullseye lights. I did this about 4 or 5 years ago and that stuff is still pliable. I also used it, along with 3M tape, to cover the tilt mounts when I place solar panels on my Sovereign 4 years ago. It is still pliable. I have not had good experience with Parrbond because it looked like it was cracking two years after I put it on my aluminum rub rails.
I have a can of Acryl-R and plan to seal panels toward the end of summer so I can't say how well it would work
