'99-34' struggling to find a leak by door!

Hello all! Looking for anyone who may have run across this. I have a 99-34' I purchased last winter. I have had a leak by the door and heavy yet to track down the origin. Th dinette keeps getting wet right where it meets the floor and the entrance door. I have been over the roof and components several time looking for this leak. I thought I found it 2 times but still getting wet. I have resorted to covering roof components with plastic to see if it stops. Today I have covered the entire door.

To date I have caulked the seams and redid the caulking for the door brow. I plan to replace the skylight and front fan but they don't seem to be the source as they were covered and still got it. Pics below. The black plastic was my original attempt. The clear is what I put up tonight. Gonna rain tomorrow we'll see. Any thoughts or anyone have a similar experience??

Ours was leaking along the trim at the bottom about floor level. I removed the whole piece from the wheel well to the door and sealed everything. I drilled out old rivets and put new ones in. The trim had been removed before and several rivet holes were left open. A lot of water came in where the top of the trim was not sealed or had pulled away. Doesn't take much.

I would be checking around the windows next to your dinette . or the leak could be coming from up above and following down one of the ribs .

Check the A/C gasket. I had a leak there that ended up just about the same place as you. Also check the rivets or screws holding your awning. You may also have several rivets leaking a small amount each. Capt Tolleys works great on the rivets. Good luck!! Chris

Also check the rail where the awning is attached. That rivet line could need some attention.

Hmmm never thought about behind the moulding down bottom. I did seal the tops so any water will run over I'll have to pull that out and start sealing.

I checked the ac. It's possible but I don't think it's from there. I did seal the windows from the trim to the body but not the trim to the glass. Maybe I can investigate that too.

I've been trying to just find it stopped after I covered something up to narrow it down but seems everything I try hasn't worked. The fabric on the dinette is pretty rough now but if I can find and stop the leak I can live with it for a while.

when the rail was added they used standard pop rivet's with no calking under rail and the water runs through the rivet's. nice---Not

Ditto the awning rail as this is commonly overlooked. I would suggest you look at the antenna base and antenna travel rest bracket too. You may consider rigging up a leak test system if all else fails.

Water traverses the path of least restriction and may be entering the rig far away from the point where we are able to detect moisture inside.

Exterior visual inspection and routine resealing are part of our Spring and Fall maintenance. Any hole or penetration in the skin of an RV is a potential leak source.

Check where the awning rail ends at the front dome seam. Lots of trailers have the rivet that would be under the rail, missing but the hole is still there. Pry it up a little and you will see the caulking has dried out and there is an open hole.

Check your rivets for a loose or missing one. It only takes one.

In my case it was a cracked lens of the outdoor spot light causing the seeming door leak. Good luck!

If all else fails, remove the front window stone guards and caulk the entire front wrap-around window frame and particularly caulk the glass against the aluminum frame. Caulk the top side of your running lights leaving a small drain hole on the bottom of the light frame. Check the lens gaskets on the running lights.

Found mine in the front curbside corner of the skylight. Replaced with a wonderful maxim skylight. The missing rivet front of awning is real under awning rail. By the way I found the skylight leak by some damp insulation. Now I have sealed everything. No leaks. You will find it...really you will.

I have the same trailer as you. My first thought was the skylight right above the entry door (even though you checked it I still think this is the most likely place water is coming in) Mine was leaking, exactly at the location shown in your photos, until I installed a Maxim Skylight. On mine, that button in the upholstery actually started to show a little rust.

But, your leak may not be directly above where it is showing up at the floor. It could be running down the wall at a different location into the channel near the floor and then running to where the channel ends beside the door.

A likely place is the AC pan. Unless someone has removed it from beneath the AC unit your trailer has this pan. They get brittle and crack with age. They usually leak into the air distribution box and drip on the floor beside the dinette. When someone tries to "fix" this type of leak by caulking the inside of the AC opening it can create a dam that pushes water into the space between the wall skins.

My bet is that the leak is at either of the two locations listed above. But, where the awning is fastened to the roof, the original rivets can become loosened by the awning flapping in the wind. Double check the entire gutter line and the awning cover hinge attachments.

Thanks for all the good tips I have a lot of new areas to check out. It's not a massive flood the floor leak but it a leak none the less. Just having trouble tracking this one down. I'll get it eventually. I hope. Going out with her this weekend but I'll be sure to start digging deeper next week.

Been battling leaks on this trailer for a while. Still have this leak at the door. Thought it was fridge outside door. Found a seam where the 2 halfway met wasn't sealed. Cut all the old stuff out and sealed everything. Still got a leak. Not as bad now but still there.

Also battling leaks at the back window and the front right window. I swear I seal up new joints every other weekend and it's still leaking.

I'm considering making up a panel for the rear hatch and putting 2 blowers in there and leak test this trailer with air pressure!

Sooooooo... I had a leak show up on the street side, inside by the Gaucho... really damp during rain...also.. near door... and around the dinette...

Now, turns out this started at the same time my AC started leaking...

After removal of the 'pan' and reinstall of the AC with new "cup" drain system, we seem to have fixed both issues...

After repair, i ran a bunch of water over and inside the AC external vent openings by the Condenser... (the outside coils).. Previously, we would get a SHOWER inside when that happened... (the water sprayed inside the coil area mimicked a 'sideways' rain)..

Interestingly... after all the rain last night, the curb side and dinette/door is dry!

The water will follow along the inside of the shell, find it's way into the 'c-channel' then run along until it finds a way out... Key places... where the sides and front/rear curves start and by the door...which runs back under the dinette depending upon which way the trailer is leaning...up, down, left, right..

I've been over the roof many times. Everything looks good. The AC is actually covered right now but i guess it could be l along under the pan. I'd think I would see something inside but maybe not.

This leak at the dinette/door is coming from the c channel. Where ever this is coming from is leaking to the inside skin the down the wall to the c Chanel. Then it's just running out at the door.

This weekend is going to be nice. I'm considering painting the entire roof with elastomeric paint. Then it can't leak....
