2004 slide out seal
Need to replace the inner cove seal on my 2004 safari slide out. Airstream tells me discontinued, sends me to a supplier that has the profile but double sided tape applied in the wrong location....anyone got any ideas help?

I don't recognize your description. Are you talking about the wiper seal? What supplier did they give you?

It's the inner cove seal. Parkin-AAC is the supplier. See pictures

That is really different from mine. Must be a design change. I have a larger gap between the trailer and the slide and a blade-type wiper seal. Sorry.

There is that wiper seal also. The cove seal slides underneath when the slide is extended. It's been the cause of leaks when the lower part unglues... post a picture of yours if you can.

Oh, it is on the bottom, not the sides and over the top?

My wiper seal was loose when I bought my trailer. The dealer stuck it back with a spray adhesive they said the factory told them to use - BS. After a couple of ins and outs, it was coming off again. I re-attached it with Gorilla Glue Super Glue. Three years and still hanging on, knock wood.

Contact Steele Rubber Products at 800-230-6109. They are a fantastic company. I used them for all my rubber door gaskets and a bunch of other seals when I was restoring mid 1960's Ford Galaxy, Torino, Mustang cars. Hope they can help you. Happy travels.

2004 slide out seal
I’ve never looked for that seal but I do have a seal company catalog and name at home. I found them via my dealer for the compression seal on the slide. And didn’t replace it I found very high bond type double faced tape and reattached.

I'm going to have to go look at mine now. I thought all there was was the wiper seal. They did change the design after mine was built, so that may be the difference.
On another subject, if I'm seeing your picture right that is the wall and the side of the slideout toward the front of the trailer. It looks like the slide is out of adjustment in that there is a growing gap from the bottom toward the top. There doesn't look to be very much room between the slide and the wall. The slide may be pulling on the seal when it moves. Alignment is not hard, but it takes some time because you have to make very small adjustments while the slide is out and then put it in to measure the results. What you are looking for is a uniform gap between the slide and the molding on the trailer all the way around the slide. I ended up making 5 different adjustments, some as small as 1/4 turn of the adjusting bolts.

I checked my parts manual. According to it, I have only the wiper seal. But then it says I have the electric slide locks, and I don't. I don't remember any seal except for the wiper, however. I have floor drains on each side of the slide. Do you? I think I remember someone telling me that their later trailer did not have the drains. Maybe that is when they doubled up on the seals.

04 parts manual lists the number but doesn't show in the diagram.
I have made adjustment in the past for the alignment of the outside wall seam...very familiar with the process.
That gap in my opinion is nearly the same all around and just indicates a loose tolerance in manufacturing and therefore the reason for this type of seal.
And I have the drain holes and the dual seals. I suggest feeling around the carpet as yours may just be covered by the carpet.

Here's all you need.
3M SUPER WEATHER STRIP AND GASKET ADHESIVE
I use this on all my gaskets. Wish I could send a photo however this site totally confounds me on how to send one.

For your files

This was recommended by my dealer as a seal supplier.

I see this thread moving away from a gasket gluing or replacement subject to an adjustment subject and that's what I need suggestions with.
I've adjusted my slide to squarely sit into the side of my AS. However it drags on the interior carpet. I have a 2004 with the larger sofa slideout. It's my understanding that in later years Airstream began using adjustable rollers. Where would I find those adjustable rollers and can one person move the slide out far enough to replace the rollers without having the slide fall off of the AS?
