1967 Window Latch adjustment

I read in one of the many theads about sealing windows that you may need to adjust the window latches. I have looked at my latches and wonder if someone can explain the adjustment.
I am also looking for 3 or 4 of the cranks that grab the window clip at the bottom of the window and pull it tightly closed.

Don't know if they are the same as the 70s but those are threaded and have a thin nut that adjusts the tension of the window closer cam.

The ones I have are the square box with four screws in it. inside is a brass screw that has a steel cylinder on it. When you crank it it raises off the catch and then you can crank the window open. If I figure out how to use my new camera I will post a pic.

The part that reaches out to grab the window clip, has not been available for almost 20 years.

Molds can be made for $20,000.00 or more.

That part would then have to sell for real big bucks.

I'm glad you brought up window clips. The new ones I just got from you have a much thicker slot for glass than the old ones. Are you supposed to pinch them together or are you supposed to fill the gap with something. I'm worried that pinching them will throw them out of shape and they won't latch properly.
I removed an old one and the factory had put some kind of cloth (tape) in the clip or on the window when installed. I'm almost ready to put my windows back in and will need your suggestion on what to do with the clips to do it right.

The tape you see is likely double faced tape and that is what you will need to secure the clips to the glass again. I had no luck using the clips I bought from Inland (your results may vary). Place the tape on the glass first and then slightly spread the correct clip open and position it on the glass over the tape. Then trim any excess tape from the clip edges. I bought new clips from Steve at VintageTrailerSupply.com and you can too! They fit 3 different size glass thicknesses. You can look them up on his website under windows, glass and 66,67,68 curved glass. Hope this helps. Ed

Our window clips were recently redesigned.

You can add double sided tape, or you can squeeze them together, or both if you wish, your choice.

Our window clips are bright and shiney, not dull like others.

We have sold over 8000 window clips for the 66-67 and 68 trailers.

Very rarely, did someone have a problem installing them.

Without exception, if that person called us, 10 to 15 seconds of instructions, resolved the matter.

Andy, I did not say that they could not be made to work. I tried buytl tape and squeezing them tighter to fit the Corning glass windows. Which is what I was told by one of your customer service folks, but I was not comfortable with the final fit. So I replaced them with the ones I purchased from VTS. That is all. I simple stated that I was and am happier with the look and fit of the other ones I installed... shiny or not. I have no wish to offend. I was just letting the author of this thread hear one opinion. Sorry if you mis-interpreted my post. Ed

no kidding, I just need the brass screw and the handle for one of the 3 on the bathroom window, and a few of the barrel nuts from Andy, but I'm going to order those new.

Andy is correct....they have not been made the latches in years. I need 5... if you find a source for $30.00 each. I may but a lathe and make my own and retire...@ $20,000.00 each.

Take the componets to a machine shop....I'm guessing $50.00 each.

Thanks for the tip on VTS. I must have got the old clips because they are way too thick for the corning windows. Pinching one together I found it changes the alignment for the catch that pulls it closed and does not pull real tight. Now I own 8 clips that obviously needed to be redesigned.

I saw something at the hardware store that got me thinking.... Danger, danger. There are shut off valves for sink faucets that may come fairly close to the brass screw in the latch crank. When I get back from a week of fishing I will post findings.

What you see, is not always what you see.

The brass screw and barrel nut, have what is called a "double start" thread.

That complicates the matter.

I paid, from a friend, $110.00, for one tap.
