What to do with 3 roof vents?
Hey guys. I'm hoping to get some points on replacing the 3 original vents on the roof of my vintage Airstream. I planned on getting at least 2 Fantastic Vents, one to use as intake, and one for venting out. What should I do with the third vent? Should I put a Fantastic vent there as well and use it for 2 in / 1 out, or would you go with a fan-free vent for the third vent?

We have Fantastic fans in our 66 but are going with Max Air in the 55. The latter can run with the vent closed like a ceiling fan. Regardless, we are doing the same with one for air in and the other with air out. And it works great. We left the center Hehr vent as is. You could switch out the lid on the middle vent for a translucent lid to function as a skylight. Good luck, Bubba

I once had a 1966 Safari and put three Fantastic Vents. With all the vents blowing out, it would suck the door shut
You can never move enough air in my book.
Enjoy,

I have a Maxxfan Deluxe in the front and rear, and replaced the middle vent cover with a new translucent lexan one from Vintage Trailer Supply. I like having the extra light in the kitchen, and an extra passive vent, but I don't see any reason why I'd benefit from having a third fan there. Two is plenty.

I have three fantastic vents in my '90 31 ft.
The front one opens to the front and the rear one opens to the rear. The third one is in the bath.
When parked I open the front and back vents and adjust the fans to vent the trailer in the direction of prevailing winds. This works well, especially in the hot and windy southwest.
The bath vent I use as needed.

We have two Fantastic fans with rain sensors and an astrodome as a 3 vent. We are happy to have the third vent that opens manually because during a fall camping trip the condensation in the trailer kept closing the vents

The Maxxair fans are reversible; you choose which direction the air flows by pushing a button.
Just in case you have to choose at purchase which direction the Fantastic fan flows. I don't know if they are reversible as well.
Cheers

Both are reversible with lots of options. I prefer Maxx Fan. You can keep them open driving down the road and leave open in the rain. Maxx Fan has a bigger roof footprint but still fits a standard vent.
As far a 3 fans go, I have 3 in my Tradewind. I'm glad I do. Front, Kitchen and bedroom.

Thank you all for the replies. Out of curiosity, what is the value of being able to have the vents open while driving? Is that just to help dehumidify as needed?

Keeps the temperature down on hot sunny days. But not for dusty roads.
