VENT/FAN/LIGHT unit

Anyone know if parts are available for the VENT/LIGHT/FAN in the older units?
1995 Excella

The gear stripped and the cover will not open.

Parts

Michael, You should be able to get that part from A/S Parts Dept at any dealer. They may have to order it from Jackson Center. I would call JC first and see if you could get the part number for it prior to placing the order at a dealer. Less chance of them sending you the wrong part. Happy Trails, Ed

Ed.

The Airstream parts department has asked us to do a post on their behalf.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE AIRSTREAM PARTS DEPARTMENT FOR PART NUMBERS. Local dealers are supposed to provide that assistance.

They have a very limited staff, which does not have time to answer questions from owners.

To do so, would extremely limit their time to help their dealers.

Additionally, the Airstream parts department "CANNOT" sell parts to anyone, unless that person is in Jackson Center, as per their franchise agreements with their dealers.

However, the Wally Byam store is free to sell any parts that "THE STORE" normally handles, even by telephone. However, the store cannot sell thousands of parts that the parts department has, or for that matter, even quote prices.

Again, at Airstreams request, please refrain from calling the Airstream parts department for information, or to attempt to place a parts order.

Andy

Does this vent/fan/light unit have a special name? Can you open it up from the inside to check the condition of the cover and seal?

I suspect that mine is not closing properly or the cover is cracked because I am getting a symmetrical water dribble coming in my front curved windows (at the inside bottom corners) during heavy rains. More on one side than the other, but the fact that there is a leak on both sides makes me think that the leak is in the roof somewhere. I have a 1998 34' Limited.

Thank you for any info/suggestions!

My favourite airstream technician in Dorchester suggested my water dribble in the front windows might have been condensation because it was:

* Cool outside (and rainy so I thought - leaks!)
* I had the furnace on
* I had no vents open
* I was boiling baby bottles

I hope so!! I have to learn better moisture control!
