Vent Covers ?

Just wondering what the longevity is on the Fantastic fan covers regarding Sun and overall effects of weather are/ what others have experienced; reason being I am debating whether to install external fan covers/sheilds or not or just buy replacement OEM covers to prepare for replacement in the future.

Plastic will crack and there have been issues of the plastic fan housings cracking where they are connected to the roof. I would leave the OEM vent if it has a metal housing.

Or switch to maxxfan with the longer cover. It's a built in shroud.

Haven't had a problem with the covers regarding longevity, had to replace them when the AS was new🥴, over tightening the hinge cracked the cover during the build.👎

Just make sure they stay sealed....

"Ultrabreeze" Fan Covers

We love them. Had them on our 2017 23D from new (recently sold) and still looked like new. Installed them on our new 2019 FC25 as soon as we got it home.

Protects the fan lid, cuts down on the sunlight somewhat (we have the white ones) and the lip of the cover protects the caulking around base of fan. Also allows you to run the fans when it is raining. Our rain sensors in the fans were way to sensitive so I unplugged them. Took about 10 minutes per fan. With the "Ultrabreeze" covers on it has to be raining really hard and the wind just right to get any droplets inside the Airstream.

Be sure to get the bugscreen as it is a separate piece. about $12.00 each.

Takes about 15 minutes to install, no holes to drill and they can be removed to clean once in a while.

For 16 years, our Fantastic Fan has been subject to California sun and rain and Montana sun, freezing, and snow without any visible effect on the plastic cover.

I hope it isn't cracked the next time I look at it!
