vent confusion

The "skylights" on the Caravanner are cracked and broken. The outside aluminum "vent covers" are fine. Ordering skylights seems confusing. There are vent covers, astrodomes, solardomes etc. Do you order only the plastic parts or are they the entire unit (plastic and aluminum together)? Some kits come with hardward and gaskets. What do I need? I feel like a dummy.

If they are the standard 14" square type various replacements are available such as translucent plastic. If they are aluminum with a plastic center you can replace the plastic with Lexan. Don't use plexiglass. You could also consider upgrading to a Fantastic Fan or Maxx Fan. Photos would help. I have some extra aluminium or tanslucent plastic vents I would sell cheap. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Astrodomes were last used in the 1971 models.

You have "solardomes" only.

Your replace the cover only.

They are available in milk white and solar gray.

The solar gray lets in more light.

They are available, depending on what vendor you choose, in single thickness or with a thermal barrier built in, and with round corners, or square corners. The square corners offer more "tenting" when the cover is opened.

Can't speak for other vendors, but the gasket and instructions come with ours.

You simply remove the old cover and hardware, and install the hardware on the new cover, with the soft aluminum pop rivets.

1965 Airstream trailers had spiral vent operators, that opened and closed both the astrodomes,( 14" x 26") and solardomes (14" x 14").

Plastic covers are available as well as fiberglass.

The plastic covers allow light to enter, the fiberglass covers do not.

Colors are also available, such as white and solar gray.
