steps to installing an astrodome?

Any feedback would be great. I received a replacement from Inland but no instructions. I've searched back a few pages and found some info. Is this right?

1) remove either 2 pins from the bottom of the lifter or just one from the top and that will free the astromedome from the trailer.
2) drill out old rivets from lifter to dome.
3) drill holes in new dome (1/8" drill bit?) and rivet lifter to dome, use vulkem to weatherproof (?)
4) attach weather-stripping
5) reattach lifter to trailer

When attaching the lifter to the new dome - do I have to go through both layers or can I attach to the inside layer? Do I need to use caulk if it's just the insdie layer?

Any lessons learned out there?

Thanks!

Both layers. That will provide more holding strength. Use a dab of sealer on the top of the rivets.

Do the astrodomes allow sunlight into the trailer.

How much? A little or a lot?

Thanks,

The white astrodomes and solardomes let light in, but no direct sunlight.

The solar gray astrodomes and solardomes let in more soft light, but no direct sunlight.

They are both double layered, creating a thermal barrier.

Here's a link to my pictures of the gray Astrodome that I installed in my '61 Overlander. I purchased the Astrodome from InlandRV. It's great! The post is from the thread "'61 Overlander's Club".
