It's straight forward.

depending on the age of your unit the skylight trim might need to be replaced. There are two screws on each end of of teh pull shades. one end is easy to see and the other they are hidden. when you take that down you wll see two more screws on each end.
I found due to years of leaks the wood put in by AS was rotten. So be ready to replace that as well.
My 2005, the trim was brittle and discolored so they were replaced.. be sure to pre-order them as some places don't keep a lot of them in stock or like at Outdoors Mart in NC was low on inventory due to SO many poeple changing them out, skylights and the trim.
to install i used a good silicon, put a bead on the top of flange, put the new skylight on, got it centered up and let it dry. I did not see the need for screws through the side as the silicon is a good adhesive. ( let it sit for 24 hrs and try to push it off from inside).. put the new trim in with wood if needed, installed the shaded and it is a nice job.
the skylight are a bit heavy so make sure of footing on roof and good to have help on inside when placing on flange to get centered.
you will be very happy with the new products and NEVER have to worry about that again..

Thank you for your post and pictures. A quick response that you do not have to seal the "obround" fastener holes on the side. Enjoy!

Received our Maxim skylight on Tuesday and installed it. Everything went very smoothly. We got the outer clear dome, with dark gray for the next two layers. Very pleased with the light reduction, and glad we went that dark. We ordered the unit late in the day on 8/19 and it was delivered on 9/20. It was installed on our 2013 25' Flying Cloud. Our curb measured 22.5" square and we ordered the skylight frame at 22.75" square--perfect fit. I think we will be very pleased. The Maxim unit is very impressive--solid and very high-quality construction. Sorry I don't have any "before" pictures, but I have included a couple shots of the finished installation.
If anyone wants the OEM skylight, please PM me and you can have it for the cost of shipping. It was not damaged; we just wanted the darker and higher-quality Maxim unit. I'll probably hang on to the old one for a week or two before I toss it, so let me know ASAP if you want it.

Mine didn't have screws; I noted that there was no damage. It was held down only by butyl tape.

Our 2014 was the same... no screws.
Ours was two-sided tape (not buytl, but an automotive grade VHB tape). The stuff was super-sticky!

I said butyl, but it was probably the same thing that was on yours-and, yes, definitely sticky!

2005 30' Classic that has "factory covers" on the skylights? Looks like a white cap screwed down to the bumper. AS not purchased yet but can only imagine new maxim skylights in the near future. Caps have been installed since it was new.

I installed my new Maxim skylights yesterday. Wow! They are really built! Now, my inner trim needs replacing as well. Does anyone know where I can buy? Skylights are 22 1/2 X 22 1/2 and 17 1/2 X 26.

We are in Yellowstone right now. I notice condensation appears on the metal frame at night as the temperatures drop. It's enough to start dripping on the floor or behind the interior trim. I would've expected the frame would have a thermal break in their construction. Are these residential skylights just sized for our Airstreams. Anyone notice condensation on cold nights? Didn't really notice this issue with the OEM skylights.

But this sealant is not readily available so we also suggest OSI Quad Max. This is also a UV stable sealant that will not fail when exposed to sunlight and can be painted, if one chose to paint the area. If the skylight must be removed, the "peel strength" of sealants is their weak point so pulling up on one corner will literally peel the skylight away. Hope this helps! Thank you all for your comments and support - David (from Maxim)

I see so many remarks about how the original skylights are cracked by AirStream overtightening the screws....some of the remarks indicate cracked almost since new. I suspect much of the problem is the sealant used. Many plastics, and especially acrylics/polycarbonates (Lexan) will be embrittled, crazed, and will crack extensively if exposed to ammonia or many sealants which cure by chemical action. Many "silicone" sealants actually cure by such.
If Maxim suggests a particular sealant...then why use anything else?
I only wish I'd discovered and read this thread before ordering a skylight dome from another supplier. The one I've ordered is very inexpensive, and is a "dome" only with a flange... no framework and no "multiple-layered-domes" such as the Maxim product. (Plus, I'd have preferred to support another Texas mfr'r.)
I expect to install the cheapie I've ordered and expect it to be about the same quality as the OEM...(and I"ll be cutting a flat-sheet of plexi to install between it and the curb.) But when it fails..... I'll be ordering a Maxim!
Question for David (if he still reads this thread): Have you used/considered or can you recommend the G.E. Silicone 55 product they make specifically for Plexiglas/Lexan? I've seen a youtube video of it and it certainly appears durable and suitable for the purpose, and should be easy for anyone to pick up at Home Depot.

Hi Kelvin... are you still in Yellowstone? I sure wish that we were!
Yep, we had the same condensation issue last year when we were in the Durango, Colorado area. I'm thinking of gluing some thin(ish) closed-cell foam to the exposed inside metal parts.
