Roof vents?

How many vents are on the roof of a 1973 Globe Trotter? This is not a trick question....I have 2 and an A/C unit I would like to remove the A/C so I'm wondering if the hole was cut or if it was a vent....

Related to just the A/C opening question..You will find that it's a rather large opening, depending on the brand of A/C unit used then. With the unit sitting over/thru the hole, with the controls attached inside.
So far, I've never seen an A/C unit installed on top of an A/S product that , was vented. (Meaning, the unit is sitting on top and, has a vented opening for the hot/cold air exchange)
Did you obtain the manuals with your unit when you purchased it ?

No manuals just the trailer it's a coleman not sure of the size. Would like to put a factory vent in the hole but with out removing the unit it's tough to tell the size of the hole......

Most AC units fit in a 14X14 hole. This is close to the size of the standard AS vent opening. The corners have to be cut to square it off to make it 14X14.

I would hope someone with the same unit sans AC wil respond. If you remove the AC you may have to install a Fantastic Fan vent to fill the opening.

Hello Aviontt, I have a 73 Globetrotter, mine only has two vents, the foremost has a fan in it whilt the rear does not. On the top of my trailer there is some type of gritty stuff, looks like non-slip material (sandpaper like material to prevent people from slipping) I do not know it this was from the po trying to seal the top or if it was just something dumb he put on it.
Are you restoring it or is it done? I am trying to do a litte here and there. I have removed the flooring and have checked that all appliances work with the exception of the h2O heater, we have leaks under the bathroom counter where the reguletor is. Do you have the manual to yours? If so is there any way you could photo copy it and I will send a money order to pay for it?

Sorry I have no manual with mine. I'm in the same boat I do a little here and there when time prevails.....Seems like their is never enough time .......Jeff

Greetings Aviontt!

If your Globetrotter has an Armstrong Bay Breeze air conditioner, it won't have a single 14" square opening as would today's air conditioners. The Armstrong Bay Breeze had either two or three small circular openings through which the internal and external units were connected. When an Armstrong Bay Breeze air conditioner is removed, some have simply patched the small round holes with aluminum while others have centered a 14" vent over the three smaller round openings.

I used self-adhesive foam weatherstipping from Lowes. 1"x1", if I recall. Clean off the old stuff throughly and gently work the new around the corners. It has worked great for a couple of years now.

To the top, definitely. And it may have only been 3/4" thick. Pretty sure it was 1" wide, though. You want to apply it continuously, so that the only break is where the two ends meet.

The original material had to have been something very similar.
