I have a original roof vent covers, the square ones and they are aluminum with a thin sheet of plastic. I want to keep the aluminum and replace the riveted plastic top portion. which type of smokes or clear plastic can I use to recover these with that will be uv stabilized?? Lexan? Plexi? Or just get some quarter inch glass and wuse sikaflex and window tint it?? Thanks

Lexan polycarbonate would work well.

I just used the standard 1/8" smoked plexiglass found at Home Depot. It is working very well. I replaced both the inside and the outside with the smoked plexiglass.

Lexan polycarbonate is the best for the outside because it has a lot more strength. I just replaced all of mine about two months ago. I put polycarbonate on the outside and plexiglass on the inside. Be sure to use exterior foam if you replace the gasket on the lid.
