Yeah, I have seen that thread, it's great, and I do really like that alternative. I have new lifters which I would prefer to utilize, mainly because of their expense,so probably will not be doing it on the sovereign, but I would like to give it a try on another trailer, those pics of Wally sticking out of the opening just look so classic to me. It is almost like the " Great Helmsman ".

Mmmmm. Not really ready for used floor tiles yet, but never say never, could use an entire interior skin without any penetrations for the Sovereign though, might get lucky!

also... the fiberglass end cap, you asked if it was structural. I believe it is. I covered it instead of replacing it as to not mess with strength.

Pete, your reluctant welder did a good job. From the looks of it I assume that you are using the later Astrodome style with the rounded corners.

Yes, I have had the cover shelved for a couple of years so the way the surround turned out in the end , it is compatable. Although I think I recall AndyR advising that you can use a square cover on a round cornered, but not the other way around anyway. I'm not really sure how square/ round any alternatives are without actually seeing them in the flesh, but I'm heading up to California in June so might try and see an example then, and their respective light. The corner radius on the cover I have is what looks to me to be about 1 inch ( 25 mm ), and goes well with my surround I think. It feels like a good light in the mock up, maybe a slightly greenish hue ( although the pic does'nt show it ), which matches the glass tint. And I expect the mesh screen will diffuse it somewhat ( so I'm not looking at raw fiberglass at least! ). I may have to adapt things a little for the lifter brackets on the inside though, but I cannot see it being too hard. Hope your own recovery is progressing well, Motoman.
Pete
