Fanatastic Vent tech support reply to my reverse question

Here is what they told me:

"Hi Ken,
If you have a on/off rocker switch in the face of fan you can order a reverse switch to put in place of on/off switch..."

I will be following up with a warranty question (seeing that I'm not a factory authorized tech) but it sounds easy.

I can't see it being a warranty issue unless you were to put a reverse on the rear fan.

The lady at Fantastic mentioned the install should be straighforward and they include a wiring diagram with the parts package that they send out. I ordered two and it was 24 bucks. Cheap experiment I'd say.

FYI - Fantastic Vent confirmed it is not a warranty problem for a DIY swap of the switch.

hello fantastic fan fanatics......

who knows why......
rvia or just cost savings.....
ff rep acted surprised when i noted that my front ff had no reverse...
he told me other makers still use them....
'perhaps a/s was saving a buck'........
gases arent an issue at the front....
and if front is set to exhaust.....
and rear open or bath open....
fumes can still be sucked in....
without a 3 way function....

anyway
the ff fan tech followed my back to the trailer....
here at the international.....
and installed the 3 way switch in place of the on/off....
took 10 minutes......
and 30$......
warranty intact.....
very nice guys....
they also did a complete inspection of both fans, and wall switches.
and detailed me on the correct functions

good job fantastic fan........ .....

cheers

changed them today

I received my switches from Fantastic Vent today. Inside the package, there was 2 reverse switches and a wiring diagram of both the 6000BTA (airstream stock) and the 6000RBTA (reversible).

I took the front cabin fan apart and had it back together in about 30 minutes.

It works perfectly and really helps the airflow in the trailer. I haven't bothered to install the reverse switch in the rear of the trailer as I don't see us wanting to do anything other than venting out from that area. Pulling in at the front of the cabin, venting out the rear.

The only difficult part only because I had to go onto the roof was re-routing the red motor wire to the reverse switch. Otherwise, very easy and satfisying Twinkering today.

cheers,
brad.

One of the reasons we added covers to our fans was so we could do exactly what you did at that rest stop. Another reason was to be able to run our fans in the strong afternoon winds that we often experience here in the northwest in the summer that forced us to close the Fantastic Fan for fear the cover would blow off before we added the MaxxAir vent covers -- I know that the wind never blows in Hood River, Or though.

Not much wind here in Hood River........'been blowing 20-30 for over a week now. Still waiting for it to get REALLY WINDY!!!
