Replacing "Vent Cover"

We need to replace the rectangular "skylight" thingy at the front of our Tradewind. It measures approximately 14x26 from edge to edge. This one is yellowing and looks like fiberglass. We'd love clear but I know that's not possible (we're not willing to make it ourselves!). Is there a supplier we can order one from? Do we just contact Airstream? Thanks for any leads!

In all fairness, Don't bother to call Airstream , unless you just happened to pull up in front of the Jackson Center, Ohio, facility. They will just refer you to one of their national dealers.
The two links given here are good for the vent cover replacement. Check and make sure your original hardware is in good shape or, order it from Andy..I ordered mine from him and, it was a perfect fit and, quality was excellent~! pricey but..
Also, be sure to get the foam seal for the inside lip edge..(this seals the road dust, bugs, etc out..) Andy is also a great source for this or, you might try Lowes as well..

Take your time and, you should be able to get it done with no problems..
Also, may I suggest, use Stainless Steel hardwares..

The rectangular cover, is called an "Astrodome."

They are available from several sources, made with fiberglass that passes near zero light, and in plastic having a milk white color, and in plastic having a solar gray color.

Some also have a thermal barrier built in.

Andy

I've looked for the cranks that move the astrodome vent up and down on my '63 AS, but have had no luck. Do they exists?

Inland RV Center - The Nations Leading Expert in Airstream Innovations has them Part number 83792. If you want originals though you should keep an eye on e-bay or airforums classified section. Sometimes you get lucky.

IMHO and, my own experiences, the ones from InLand RV exceed the original and, are made to the highest standard.
Costly but at the same time, you get what you pay for..
