1979 31' International, has noisy vent fan up front. Almost sounds like the blade is hitting the shroud but I can see anywhere where it touches. Have sprayed wd40 at top of fan motor to no avail. Can this fan motor be replaced without going to a fantastic fan?
Wac, take a picture of the fan. I replaced the stove fan in the '66. I used a school bus defroster fan I got off of ebay for about 12 bucks. If it's the same motor. However, 12 v motors are in abundance and you should be able to find a reasonable facsimile. Post a picture if you can or the dimensions.

Could it be touching the top. These things have plastic blades which get distorted and when they bend will hit top. Check to see if you are opening all the way, possibly the crank is stuck and will not allow the cover to open all the way up. I have had both these problems with mine. Good luck to you.

Check the motor and see if it has an oil filler for lubrication..In my 64GT, I touched it up with a very small amount of oil..Also, you might remember that the motors from the era that your unit is...the motors were not known to be soo quiet`
A replacement is possible but why replace it if it's working?
Hope this helps..

I don't know about '79s but the stove and vent fan motors are the same in the '67. Couldn't find an oil hole on mine but it's too late. The bearings shot and the blades vibrate like its hitting the vent cover, even though its not.
Maybe you can swap them? I use the vent a lot more than the stove exhaust.
Tom.
