It just occurred that I'll lose my overhead lighting ?! Am I missing something obvious here ? I can see benefit of an extractor fan for hot days but what about overhead lighting ??!!

Well, your typical replacement fans inside piece are generally not that large. Maybe you could do a customized inside piece with some LED lights? No reason you couldn't fab something up.

I used the Maxxair Deluxe fans in my coach. The inside units have a much smaller foot print than your OEM setup. Mine don't have the lights, but my originals didn't either. I have side lighting. But, I did have a '77 Excella that had the lights like yours', and they were nice.

(On EDIT: your second post shows a good solution...something along the lines of what I was thinking. Make up something custom and you'll be gold!)


I think you might have to make something up custom. But that's cool...you can make whatever you like

I think that is one of those cheap generic rv things. Maybe campingworld? It's kinda wimpy

I just did the same thing in our 83 Excella. At the same time I removed the adjacent old tv antenna and used that spot to mount an overhead light to replace it. The wires were already there. Just had to extend them over a couple of feet.

good advice, thanks .... been thinking about removing the old tv antenna but kinda like the old retro look too ...
i need to look for some practical but innovative light fixtures ... something you'd not see in a box white box rv !

Looks just like it did for me. I was surprised how easy it was to cut out. Is the Fantastic fan supposed to open with the motor or just close automatically when it senses rain?

If I recall they came from a mom-and-pop internet trailer supply store. Single bulb fluorescents and I wired them to the "High" wire from the wall switch.
